The German Airforce's team Luftwaffe, located in West Germany were one of the countries, apparently bribed into buying F-104 Starfighters from Lockheed Martin, purchasing 916 of the aircraft in the late 1960s. It went badly over time, 292 crashed, resulting in death of 115 pilots. The problem became so severe, German pilots began to refer to these F-104s as “The Widow Maker.”

I live in Greece and we have a few M18s as firefighting airplanes. I would really like to have an RC one but there was no kit nor plans available. I contacted the PZL factory and they were happy to send me plans and pictures and specs of the airplane, but the task to convert the real plans to a nicely flying rc plane was too challenging for me. So I waited for someone to build an RC m18. Today I came across this video very excited that someone actualy made an RC Dromader......but 1/4th scale ??? Damn........

That was actually pretty cool to watch.

I personally do not see any economic justification for this conversion. Blanik is an excellent school glider that flies almost on its own and forgives the student for all his mistakes. I myself flew with him for the first time 35 years ago and tasted the sweetness of sailing and also acrobatics. It might make sense to use jet propulsion if the turbine could be turned off and on in the air. Since this is not possible, the only advantage offered by the turbine is to take off with its help. When the pilot is seen in the video, he uses the air brakes a lot, simply because he is too fast in turns and landing.

The crash is very similar to the tupolev tu-144 when it was tested

Looks awkward on the ground, but pretty cool in the air. When it passes by, from the top or bottom, with the straight wings so far back kind of looks like an X-Wing.
